Mobile Families and Third Culture Kids

  • 9 Steps

About

If you join our live course, you will learn: To understand the dilemma: “Is mobility a privilege or a challenge in today’s changing world?” Most likely, it is both. Why Third Culture Kids (TCKs) are at risk of developing mental health issues during adolescence or adulthood if they are not supported by prevention programs—especially given the new global paradigm of constant change that is emerging. How themes such as identity, loss, grief, adaptation, restlessness, shame, and the promotion of healthy relationships are all essential issues for the TCK population. How conflict between the parents’ culture and the new host culture can exacerbate mental health difficulties. What can be done to support TCKs and their families, and what is needed to counterbalance the challenges of a world in constant transition. This course is for you if… You have just moved to a new country, or you are about to relocate, and you want to learn more about how to face the changes ahead. You work with Third Culture Kids and want to learn how to recognize and prevent the difficulties experienced by this population of children, adolescents, and adults. You want to be part of an international community of TCKs and Adult TCKs, sharing the challenges of a mobile life and feeling connected to people who face the same psychological and social issues. You are experiencing psychological difficulties due to a mobile lifestyle—or you know a friend, family member, or acquaintance who is—and you want to understand how to help.
